The Fiber Splicer connects, rearranges, repairs, and maintains outside cable, including copper, fiber, and coax, to supply and maintain good service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - May repair and dig up cable when no equipment is available. - Connects and rearranges cable facilities; utilizes special test equipment to test for and locate trouble and perform cable completion tests. - Reads and interprets work prints and diagrams and remains familiar with current practices. - Loads tools and materials; works from ladder or manlift as needed, enters confined spaces, rides and drives in vehicle, stands, or sits for long periods of time. - Be able to distinguish colors. - May be required to complete driver logs and associated documents. - Must be willing to work overtime as needed; may be required to work long hours during emergency situations including night time splicing. - Follows all safety practices and procedures. PAY RANGE: Up to $40/ Hr for the most experienced splicers - $25-$40 per hour SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles or equipment in the care, custody or control. - Report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, corporate and assist in the investigation of same. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman. - Must have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction. - Support project with other tasks as directed by supervision. - Communicate with Foreman regarding any problems arising, materials required, or any hazards noted. - Ability to work different shifts and overtime as required.   - Work under production schedule pressure. - Attain set standards of accuracy. - Be able to perform duties in a safe manner.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   - Minimum of 1-4 years’ experience as an Electrician or a similar industrial construction role. - Each employee Must provide Safety Toe Boots. - Each employee must provide Safety Toe Boots. - Each employee is required to provide their own set of appropriate/approved hand tools and personal tools, per the Casey Tool List, needed to preform daily tasks as required. The Directional Drill Operator is responsible for safely operating the directional drill to place and install underground telecom facilities. The operator will typically be viewed as the crew chief over a group of 4 to 7 team members depending on the scope and size of the particular job being performed. The operator must understand all aspects of the directional drill being operated as well as recognizing the various soil types, elevation changes, and location of the drill head to avoid striking or damaging other underground utilities in the vicinity.     Essential Functions   1. Operate the HDD safely and efficiently. 2. Ensure team properly potholes for other utilities to ensure there no conflicts with the drill path 3. Fill water tanks with water. 4. Combine water with chemicals for boring according to the ground you are drilling in. 5. Hook up swivel, reamer, and pipe product that will be pulled back to complete the bore shot. 7. Before the bore shot is started, walk out bore shot to ensure all utilities have been located and develop a plan for going above or below each utility or obstacle in the bore path. 8. Pull back the product with the correct hole opener and utilize the correct mud mixture to ensure that the product makes it from point B to point A. 9. Inspect and maintain job equipment. 10. The Construction Supervisor is responsible for directing in-house crews and subcontractors in day-to-day activities to drive successful project outcomes.
