The Fiber Optic Cable Splicer is a skilled field position in the installation and repair of fiber optic cable, responsible for performing splicing functions, either new to new or new to existing, once the cable has been placed then rearranging the existing cable. This position supports the Splicing team and works with personnel within the department. Minimum Qualifications 1. A High School Diploma, or equivalent. 2. 3 years of experience. 3. Locator’s responsibilities include:  •  Confirm bore path with install foreman and drill operator (including walking the bore path). •  Perform job site analysis (JSA) including completion of paperwork. •  Ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards. •  Record the depth of the tool head as required. •  Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product. •  Oversee laborers and/or crew member’s work and monitor time usage. Basic Qualifications: •  3 years of Horizontal Directional Drill experience; •  Valid driver’s license; •  Must obtain a CDL class “A” driver’s license within 30 days of employment; •  Clean driving record. Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma, or equivalent. - 1 year of relevant experience. - Valid driver’s license. - OSHA 10 Certification. Preferred Qualifications - 2 or more years of experience. - CDL Class A driver’s license. Physical Demands and Work Environment  This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination.
